Mountain resorts provide many facilities to its tourists. Other facilities are provided by the restaurant like ski equipment rental, ski school, rest rooms and a really whole lot of snow.
If you just want to enjoy and play in the snow, without going for skiing and other amusements, the lift tickets come at a discounted price. For visitors, Mt Baldy is one of the least crowded regions for skiing in the United States. It also has a very challenging terrain.
There are 17 runs in the region and these are accessible by 4 lifts. The terrain is suited mostly for very experienced skiers – around 95% of the terrain is black diamond.
The remaining 5% is for beginners. For most of the time, the lower portion of the Mountain is covered with low snow and therefore inaccessible. In seasons where the snowfall is good, the lower portions open up thereby nearly doubling the downhill distance that can be skied over.
Though ski equipment rentals are available at Mt Baldy, this equipment is outdated and is actually of the handed down variety. It would be better if one would bring along his own ski equipment or rent it from elsewhere.
Mt Baldy is easily accessible from San Diego, Los Angeles and even Orange County. If you are looking to drive on the snow, be sure to carry chains. All in all, Mt baldy is an exciting place to be – especially if you know your skiing.
